greedy little girl.... ME ~!
Thursday, March 29, 2007

my winnings on SUN came at the right time, was feeling so STRESSED cos' a couple of bills gonna be due end of the month and i'm having such a headache over them.

PHEW~!

good timing, really.. but no extras after i finish paying for them... pengz!

though i've "strike" but i'm feeling SORE over my winnings which was GREATLY REDUCED esp, when it's FIRST prize! ~ OMG ~

and the reason for that?

i was feeling DOWN for the past weeks on those times when i kept missing my "STRIKES" to collect $$$ from Singapore Pools. it's really a "SUX-kiee" and "DE-moralizing" feeling ~ haiz ~ hence i bought only IBET and not "ZHENG" 正 numbers and guess what --> the number i bought came out "ZHENG" 正.. imagine the SUPER SIAN feeling! sob sob...

show me the monie please~!
cos besides working for a decent living, there's still a need for those extras from Singapore Pools~!
the Singapore living standard is so high (and still wanna up GST.. wah lao~!) for those middle class civilians like us that only the RICH can afford it and thats so UNFAIR ~!

teary eyed.. touching!

Don't look for a punch line, there isn't one.
Read it anyway.
My question is: Would you have made the same choice?

At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves learning-disabled children, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question: "When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does is done with perfection. Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do. Where is the natural order of things in my son?"

The audience was stilled by the query.

The father continued. "I believe that when a child like Shay, physically and mentally handi- capped comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way other people treat that child."

Then he told the following story:

Shay and his father had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, "Do you think they'll let me play?" Shay's father knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but the father also understood that if his son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps.

Shay's father approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and said, "We're losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning."

Shay struggled over to the team's bench and, with a broad smile, put on a team shirt. His Father watched with a small tear in his eye and warmth in his heart. The boys saw the father's joy at his son being accepted. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs but was still behind by three. In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as his father waved to him from the stands. In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again. Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat.

At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game? Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball.

However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting winning aside for this moment in Shay's life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least make contact. The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed. The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay. As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher.

The game would now be over. The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman. Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game.

Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman's head, out of reach of all team mates. Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, "Shay, run to first! Run to first!" Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base. He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled.

Everyone yelled, "Run to second, run to second!" Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and struggling to make it to the base. By the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball ... the smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance to be the hero for his team. He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher's intentions so he, too, intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman's head. Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward home.

All were screaming, "Shay , Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay"

Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him by turning him in the direction of third base, and shouted, "Run to third! Shay, run to third!"

As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators, were on their feet screaming, "Shay, run home! Run home!" Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the grand slam and won the game for his team.

"That day", said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, "the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world".

Shay didn't make it to another summer. He died that winter, having never forgotten being the hero and making his father so happy, and coming home and seeing his Mother tearfully embrace her little hero of the day!

AND NOW A LITTLE FOOTNOTE TO THIS STORY:
We all send thousands of jokes through the e-mail without a second thought, but when it comes to sending messages about life choices, people hesitate. The crude, vulgar, and often obscene pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion about decency is too often suppressed in our schools and workplaces.

We all have thousands of opportunities every single day to help realize the "natural order of things." So many seemingly trivial interac- tions between two people present us with a choice: Do we pass along a little spark of love and humanity or do we pass up those opportunities and leave the world a little bit colder in the process?

Share this little message to anyone and everyone you know :)

A wise man once said "every society is judged by how it treats it's least fortunate amongst them."
May your day, be a Shay Day.

pending for closure... 12 Oct 2005
Friday, March 09, 2007

some time back approx 1 year 5 months ago, we encountered an accident; though not a serious (no one died nor needs to be hospitalized) one but it was on a very memorable date :P

anywayz, it was recently pull out again from our memories when our acting lawyer gave "Passenger 1" a call to provide a status update (since "Lawyer" couldn't get "Passenger 2 & 3"). the "accused" driver is said to be willing to pay each of us a small (REALLY SMALL and little compared to market rate!) amount of monie to close off the case.

dumb woman had no shame! i think we've been very nice gals to be so patient and understanding in the 1st place for her but she's really pushing her luck! fed up with the waiting, we told the lawyer to obtain payment within 14 days else just SUE her ass off ~! who cares, we've already waited for so long!

Edited for your reading pleasure

hi "Lawyer",

Per conversation earlier today, please find below our stand pertaining to the above mentioned.

1. Compensation value of $"peanutz" each to be credited into our bank accounts (per below) within 14 days.
We do not see any sincerity from "Accused". With reference to the fax documents which you've provided to "Passenger 2" in Jan 2007, on the response from driver - "Accused", is purely an excuse for her mistake in our opinion. It was SLOW traffic at that time even before the accident occured and our taxi driver, "Victim" was driving very SLOWLY on the road. The hit on the taxi was not once but TWICE from the "Accused".

The acceptance of this compensation is only to close this case ASAP.

For your information, we "Passengers 1, 2 and 3" are aware of the average compensation value for such accidents in the market.
The compensation offer $"peanutz" by "Accused", is considerably LOW in the market. This acceptance is out of goodwill (as claimed by her per fax "with limited financial resources"). We would appreciate if she could show her sincerity in settling the said amount within 14 days in view of the length of time spent on this accident; being aged for more than 1 year 4 months, 25 days (at point of letter draft to our "Lawyer") to close for we "Passengers 1, 2 and 3" are running OUT of patience.

However, if "Accused" is not able to fulfill her end of the bargin of said amount with full payment to all 3 of us "Passengers 1, 2 and 3" within deadline of 14 days from 9 March 2007, we will not accept any further negotiations from "Accused" anymore.

2. Authorization to proceed with further action should deadline of payment be missed
"Lawyer" is hereby authorized to act on our "Passengers 1, 2 and 3" behalf to proceed with necessary actions required to get back our accident claims accordingly to the market rate.

Kind regards,

Passenger 1, 2 and 3

i didn't tio TOTO tonight.
so sad..
how do you play this game and win..?
i think my "CAI SHEN" went on holiday and i'm not sure when it's coming back to visit me.
SIANZZZZzz!!!!

our "groundnut" winnings from VVVVIP club is officially over. sigh.. its OVER...!!! boo hooo...

i feel like going for a mini holiday... Genting sounds like a good idea. wahaha.. then i can go and play roulette ~! nah.. just kidding ~ that can wait cos i dun have anymore leave left till my next batch of leave comes in when May - month arrives. maybe then i'll plan for a trip to Genting or go Phuket with Mom & Grace?! hehe.. luckily for Mom, she won a pair of tickets to Phuket from QB house lucky draw... HENG HENG hor ~!
(Grace helped filled up the form for Mom and I entered for the draw too but sianz cos my ticket didn't win anything leh...! haha.. and i tot the draw was a coax! LOL)

currently picking up new knowledge/ info from Eileen (m trying my best to absorb / digest/ understand the current process but its a little confusing at times ~ 'm really a greedy kid cos i'm already thinking of ways to "work around" the "customer") who's leaving us in less than 11 days..
sob sob...
gona miss the laughing and makan sessions with her.. sob sob.. boo hoo.. sob...
however will still wish Eileen, our "ma zi" ~ all the very BEST in her future undertakings.

my learning curve's a little tough right now cos i'm still not used to some of the terms and process flow of the accounts she's currently holding. the ang mo seems to think that 'm "super woman" and i'll be able to create mircles in the next few days (Wah Lao.. transistion is still underway and he's already stressing me...!!!)
totally insane on such a thought ~!
~ FAINT ~
i know nutz about the US/ Europe "practice" ~ have no background/ experience in handling these accounts ~!
c'mon man, time difference for one is already a problem~!
besides, m a visual person lah.. gotta be able to see for better understanding..! *duhz*
is he gona send me there like a learning trip or something..?!
if yes, then i wouldn't mind... LOL. *pengz* maybe i think too much, then again..
i think i'm gonna try my luck asking for the "learning" trip after our fiscal year :P
p.s. ah nett.. i won't 4get about you.. will ask about ur account also~! hahaha..

i pray for God's strength, patience and most importantly, WISDOM ~!

my CNY 2007
Tuesday, March 06, 2007

gosh ~ i couldn't quite believe my eyes for time sure flies... wow! to think we've come to an end on our celebrations of Lunar New Year - 15th days over and counting! recapping the moments ....

the usual routine
visiting of our elders, family and little nephews & nieces

playing mahjong
playing "dai di"
losing "ban luck" --> haha.. i have terrible luck in this game

the disappointing game
not winning 10 MILLION TOTO *boo hoo*

the surprize
strike TOTO on Hong Bao draw --> small peanuts lah..
not losing so much on "ban luck" --> that's a BIG WOW for me :P
strike TOTO on following monday --> wah, not bad leh... my share with the VVVVIP club is growing by abit... not bad... hahah! we need to JIA YOU 加油, 加油 some more!

the retreat

got a really NICE, cosy spot to catch the fireworks over the weekend - Swissotel Raffles Stamford Hotel. our room was on the 34th floor and it had a great view over the Hong Bao river and the Singapore River. couldn't resist the temptation of watching TV in bed (such soft lighting and spoongy spring comfort) ... guess what...it rained... and we napped!

mom came over after work and we headed down to the basement for makan. bought LOU HEI (a must have cause it was REN-RI 人日 aka everybody's birthday~!)

we waited patiently for the fireworks, was arranging stools outside the balcony when it happened. BOOM~! Wahhhh...! WOW ~~~! Oooh....~~!!! we were greeted with a wide array of colors, designs and sparks of the beautiful fireworks! though it was short (approx 5-8 mins) but a fantastic display!

S.H.E

** the pictures might not have captured the best of the gals so... it's still better to get your own tickets to watch them LIVE next time ~! **

it's my 2nd time watching S.H.E. in action and the gals were great, putting in much effort in their performance. see below their opening act - managed to capture a shot with the sparks! hehe..

although they sang almost the same set of songs + NEW songs (of cos!), yet each of them got to have their own SOLO performance. an eye opener to see Selena dancing with such energy and she has definitely SLIM down by LOTS!

however, i was MOST blown away by Ella's unplugged Piano performance. WOW~!

another great performer ~ Stephaine Sun Yan Zi ~

Hebe did her SOLO act under "Encore" section, which was kinda predictable - Hebe was playing drums and yeah~ she looked cool alrite playing with the sticks that way! see below a very small picture of her & Fei Lun Hai 飞轮海 :)

see Hebe's SOLO act with the drums!

overall, i'm still glad to have made it this time for their concert.
good job S.H.E, you gals did GREAT ~!

Happenings @ TPE Day 7 (the last)

** sadden by the thought of leaving Taiwan hence did not take that many pictures to share with ya' on blogger... hahaha ~! **

time sure flies and we've come to the end of our 7 days tour in Taiwan.
so sad to leave cause i'm already missing the beautiful scenaries, tasty & yummy food, great shopping and not 4getting the friendly locals~!

we decided to rediscover Xi Meng Ding 西门丁 for one last time, in hope to find more yummy local delights --> that's our BRUNCH, and to taste it for one last time. haha..! wanting to give 阿宗面线 another try (this time with chilli), we headed out and ordered small bowls instead. ahhhhh~ so much better with CHILLI ~ aiyah, Singaporean go anywhere oso must have chilli ... err.. for my case, that is!

the gang well esp. my sister, was highly recommending bread pudding or breakfast ... can't blame her since it's her fav dessert. luckily, the bakery was situated near to our hotel. am i GLAD to give it a try.. the bread pudding was pipping HOT from the oven, smell really good and tasted sweet, smooth and YUMMY~!

we also found a small push cart stall selling similar local delights available in SIN however being greedy and curious, we decided to order small portions with variety ---> so as to share :) they were cheap and tasted so GOOD~!

last but not least, it's always a MUST to buy local pastries home just to share it with your loved ones here in SIN ;P

and my mom's favourite... YAM pasteries - found in Taipei International Airport by accident (good job, Ros!) which turn out to be an excellent find~!

Happenings @ TPE Day 6
Monday, March 05, 2007

** due to insufficient space @ photo trail to create nice & pretty photoflick.. many apologies with only very PTE LTD pictures to share on blogger from now on~! **

was horribly sick for my 2nd last day of the trip. totally demoralized being down with bad flu and cough hence i slept in while my fun loving kakis went ahead to Yang Ming Shan 阳明山.
~ darnz ~
i so want to go cos i was told of possible sightings of sakura flowers (which Gracie got to see it when she was there ~!!! boo hoo..)!

see some of the beautiful scenary

see some of the kung-fu pictures

see some people shots

managed to meet up with the gang for dinner before we head up to Taipei 101. since we were running low on cash, we decided to go for a really nice dinner ~ well, mainly because we'll be able to charge it to our credit card lah... haha!

we found a Japanese buffet restaurant "Wasabi" within Taipei 101 and it was a really good decision/ choice we've made. it has a great selection of cooked food ~ tepanyaki, soups, crab porridge *i miss AMK curry crab!*, tempura, sashimi, fruits and desserts. apologies as there aint that many pictures to share with you cos we were just too busy stuffing ourselves! hahaha!

we found our way to the ticketing counter to purchase our way up to Taipei 101. did you know it takes only 38 seconds via lift to get to the observatory deck on level 89 ~ talk about speed!

see some of the night shots we took with our pte ltd mobile phones BUT they're still looking good ~!

1. Ros got hers spolit
(lost focus having dropped accientally by err.. clumsy Ros.. haha.. haiz...!)
2. Grace had flat batt
(from too much snapping in the morning.. hahaha!)
